Real Life with Ivy & Elder

Real Life with Ivy & Elder

The Morning Scramble

I’m always interested in people’s daily routines in hopes of making mine smoother. Ivy & Elder helps me and my daughters throughout the day — if it’s helpful to you, here’s what we do!

7 a.m. Three girls are getting ready for high school, one for junior high, and my son is asking for pancakes before he walks to 2nd grade. The girls shower and use the Leave-In Hair Mask, scrunch their damp hair, grab something to eat, and head out the door. If it’s one of those magical days where they don’t feel rushed, they might use the Wave Spray and spend a few extra minutes diffusing.

Me? I put my hair in a bun and get breakfast going for my younger kids.

8:30 a.m. Everybody’s off! I’m going to do a home workout before starting my day. Hair still in a bun.

9:30 a.m. Sometimes I shower, sometimes I don’t have time. If I do get a chance to shower, I’ll use the Leave-In Mask, do a little scrunch, and get started on work — air drying is my go to!

If I need to get going right away, I’ll skip the shower and use the Wave Spray to give my waves a boost with a quick spray..

I want to be outside and not worry about what my hair looks like — and I know I've got products that make it easy and low-stress.

Garden, Ocean Air, Dog Walking

12:30 p.m. Lunch and some time in the garden, where I’m hoping my carrots finally grow this year. My dogs look at me sadly, so I finish the watering and we hop in the van for a trip to Douglas Preserve, a local off-leash dog park. It’s right on the edge of the ocean bluffs, where it can be sunny and windy, so I always bring a hat and sunscreen. I want to be outside and not worry about what my hair looks like — and I know that if I need to look more put together after a breezy walk by the ocean, I’ve got products that will make it easy and low-stress.

2:30 p.m. My son gets home from elementary school and wants food. Then, we both head off to pick up my youngest daughter. What does my hair look like? I don’t even think about it. (And my kids definitely don’t, either: they’re much more interested in snacks.)

Braids, Sprints, and Dinner for Seven

3:30 p.m. One sport, two different practices: my lacrosse-playing high schoolers use the Wave Spray right after school, then braid their hair so that they can focus on sprinting up and down the field.

6:30 p.m. Date night with my husband. Just kidding! We’re making food for everyone, although two of the girls are getting ready for a team dinner. After practice, they might re-do their braids or spritz their hair with water and then with Wave Spray to bring their waves back. On the occasional night when David and I do get out for a dinner on our own, I could do the same. But mostly, I’d want to enjoy the quiet time together before heading back to our loud and full house.

How do you use Ivy & Elder as part of your day? Let me know!
